Gujarat Philatelists' Association was established in 1972 with the aim of promoting Philately as a Hobby among all Age groups. Philatelists from across the country are members of Association and they Meet every month on Second Sunday and share update, Research based Knowledge and release the Monthly News Letter named "GPA NEWS".

PHILATAIPEI 2016 - Anil Suri as Comm.

Anil Suri is appointed the National Commissioner for India of PHILATAIPEI 2016 World Stamp
Championship Exhibition being held at Taipei, Taiwan from October 21 to 26, 2016. This is fourth
World Stamp Championship show which will be the highest level of competition in philately where
the best philatelists in the world will compete for awards. There will be 3 finalists: The World
Champion, First Runner Up and Second Runner Up. The World Champion is therefore recognized as having won the highest award in the world's stamp competitive exhibitions. The first WSC was held in Singapore in 2004 and incidentally Anil Suri was also the National Commissioner for India for this. The 2nd and 3rd WSC were held in Israel 2008 and Indonesia 2012.

GREX Article 9.1 - Participation in the FIP Championship Class is restricted to exhibits which have
received 95 or more points in FIP World Exhibitions in any three separate years during the previous
10 years.

GREX Article 9.6 - On receiving the Grand Prix d'Honneur in the FIP Championship, or having
completed eligibility under Article 9.4, an exhibit may only be shown out of competition by the same owner.

PHILATAIPEI 2016 will have following classes in addition to the World Stamp Championship Class:
Traditional, Postal History, Postal Stationery, Aerophilately, Thematic, Revenue, Youth, Literature,
One Frame and Modern Philately. The Entry Fee for One-Frame Exhibit is US$120, and for Literature the Fee is US$90 per exhibit. The participation is free for Youth Class. The Entry Fee for all other classes is US$80 per frame.

The forms will be made available soon. The last date for submitting the forms is January 15, 2015.

Philately Day - Special Cancellation

This Year India celebrates Philately Day on 13th October. As a Part of Celebration, Gujarat Circle Postal Department released a Special Cancellation on Philately Day. Shown below is the sample of the Cancellation. The Cancellation is designed by the member of GPA Jatin Trivedi. This Cancellation is made available at Ahmedabad only.

World Post Day - Special Cancellation

Entire world celebrated World Post Day on 9th October and Philatelists & Postal Department also are not left. To celebrate the ocassion, Gujarat Circle Postal Department released a Special Cancellation on World Post Day. Gujarat Philatelists' Association prepared some Covers for members of the Association as shown below. The Cancellation is designed by the member of GPA Jatin Trivedi. This Cancellation is made available at Ahmedabad, Vadodara and Rajkot.

Philately - Pleasure for You, Treasure for Family

India Post is really Serious on Philatelic activities across the country including improving the quality printing and on time supply of Postage Stamps. In this context, they organised a Workshop on Philately between 3rd February 2014 and 5th February 2014 where Mr. Mainak Kathiara of Gujarat Philatelists’ Association was invited for the presentation. In continuation of the same, One more Workshop was organised between 23rd June 2014 and 25th June 2014 again on Philately. Mr. Mainak Kathiara was invited for the Presentation on “A Philatelist’s View on Philately” on the First Day of the Three Days’ Workshop. Philately - An Enthralling & Enduring Hobby


India Post is serious on improvement of Quality Services on Philately and organised a Special Three Days Workshop on Philately for Senior Director Level employees of India Post where Mr. Mainak Kathiara (President Emeritus, Gujarat Philatelists' Association) was invited for a Presentation on "Philately from Philatelists' View". Special Cover for Members of GPA

Gujarat Philatelists' Association released a Special Cover or its members on 11 December 2013, i.e. 11-12-13 to commemorate this Special and Unique Date which is a series in itself and a combination of Nelson Number (111) and an Angle Number (213) making 11-12-13.

This Cover is designed in a Quantity of 250 only and has a special Cancellation matching to the Design of Cover. The cover and cancellation both are designed by Jatin Trivedi, a member of Gujarat Philatelists' Association (GPA).

This is the First Ever cover with a QR CODE and a Logo of Philatelic Association and Name of Association in the Background Design of Mahatma Gandhi. The Cancellation is made available at three bureaus of Gujarat: Ahmedabad, Vadodara and Rajkot.
